Honourable Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was sworn in as the 22nd Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan on March 1, 2024, securing 199 votes. He made history as the only Speaker elected three times across two distinct terms, and uniquely, twice within the same Assembly tenure. He joins the ranks of eminent Speakers like Maulvi Tamizuddin Khan and Malik Miraj Khalid, known for their distinguished service.

Renowned for his non-partisan conduct, graceful demeanor, and gender-neutral leadership, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is respected across party lines. He has led key reforms through a long-term Strategic Plan, including the establishment of the SDGs Secretariat, Parliament’s switch to solar energy, digitization, committee system strengthening, and merit-based hiring in the Secretariat.

Previously, he served as Federal Minister for Economic and Political Affairs, and later also held the portfolios of Law and Justice, and Adviser on Political and Parliamentary Affairs during PM Shehbaz Sharif’s government (2022–2023). In the 2024 general elections, he was re-elected from NA-120, Lahore, for a fifth consecutive term, securing 68,037 votes.
